You do not choose to be depressed. Who on earth would choose it? Just because a person seems perfect on the outside, does not mean they don’t have “reason” to be depressed. They’re not just being dramatic or whining about their lives. It is something you can not control. If all you could feel was down, lethargic, hopeless, sad, etc. don’t you think you would try to find some way out? It’s different for everybody. Sometimes people look to suicide. That does not mean they just want attention, or anything like that. It means they have a mental illness. Depression is not a choice.
